Anyone remember the 1990’s? When Converse and leather jackets were in style and bands like Nirvana and Stone Temple Pilots flooded the music scene?
We do, and guess what?
We did a “grunge” wedding photoshoot with photographers Joe & Selah. As it turns out, grunge is still just as mysterious and beautiful as it was back then.
The venue couldn’t have been more fitting for the mood we were going for. We shot at the 11th Street Ruins in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee, which just so happens to share the same location as Heirlooms Vintage Rentals. This made it ideal for borrowing a few classic furniture pieces.
Now, let’s talk about those gorgeous flowers. Our friends from May Flowers, also located in downtown Chattanooga, created these gorgeous bouquets with just the right amount of greenery and burgundy colors to go along with our dark setting.
One may ask, how on earth do you make a cake to go along with this theme? The Yellow Cake Co. from Signal Mountain, Tennessee blew this timeless, and delicious dessert out of the water. This rustic, yet elegant cake was definitely one of a kind.
It seems as though with this theme, a black dress for the bride and a black tuxedo for the groom would be fitting. However both dresses and the grey tux used in this shoot gave us sort of a “Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain” kind of feel. The long dress gives the right amount of elegancy and simplicity to look great with a pair of Converse shoes and a metal necklace courtesy of Collective Clothing. The short dress is fun and flirty but also fits our punk rock theme when paired with a pair of chunky platforms. Both dresses can be found at All Dressed Up in Hixson, Tennessee.
Tie it all off with some dark lipstick and eyeshadow and you’ve got yourself a perfect photoshoot that is sure to give you flashbacks of the early 90’s. The ladies at Blow Out Co. made sure that everything, down to hair and makeup was picture worthy.
If this is your style, don’t let the modern world detour you from your dream grunge wedding. These pictures are proof that grunge is in fact, NOT dead.
Rock ON!
