Cheron's Bridal & All Dressed Up Prom
by Mark Douglas March 14, 2018
When you're planning for prom there are a number of important elements to consider in order to achieve the ultimate look. While the perfect dress and a great hairstyle are high on the list, you'll also need to consider how you want your nails done to help pull your entire design together. You may seek out a top quality nail salon in your area, or hone your skills in your do-it-yourself efforts. Either way you're gonna look good from head to toe, and your nails will have a lot to do with it.
If you're unsure about whether to get gel or acrylic nails, you first need to know the important differences. While both options are a great choice, it really comes down to preference. Acrylic nails are popular and affordable, meaning you'll likely find a talented nail technician offering the service in your area, and the price for upkeep is manageable. The downside to acrylic nails is that they are difficult to remove without damaging your existing nails. Gel nails are slightly more expensive, yet tend to look more natural and are easily removed with minimal damage to your nail bed. The downside to gel nails is they are more likely to lift and peel than acrylic nails, so they may not last as long.
French tips are a classic and naturalistic choice and the best news is that they are easy to achieve at home. With a kit purchased from the store and a steady hand, you can get this elegant look for cheap. Price check with your nail salon as they may also be affordable.
If you're looking for something more dramatic, consider nail art. Most salons offer this service, and it's a great way to show off your personality and style while tying your entire prom look together. Mix and match colors, charms, decals, and designs to achieve this ultimate high fashion look.

Bravo! This week's Video Bonus!... How do you do what you do with your nails? DJ Mark's latest episode of 'Puttin On The Ritz w/ DJ Mark!' is LIVE! The fourth episode is titled, "#4 My Ultimate Look, Nails | How Do You Do What You Do?" -Mark interviews Shelby and Jaden as they walk us through their pre-party nails rituals!
Mark: "And here we go, we've got two lovely ladies, Shelby and Jaden, Shelby, what are you wearing?
Shelby: I'm wearing a Colette CL18298.
Mark: And Jaden..
Jaden: I'm wearing an Ellie Wilde EW118139.
Mark: Right here on the sales floor, 2018's. Okay, so let's talk to the ladies about how they do their nails. Obviously you've got Prom Night, you've got a schedule, maybe you wanna do-it-yourself, maybe you wanna hire somebody, Shelby how do you do what you do?
Shelby: I would definitely go to a salon and get probably acrylics. Something that makes them longer, but not too long so they still look natural.
Mark: And then of course you want to match your dress is that a special thing you have in mind?
Shelby: Yes, something that definitely goes along with the dress or the theme of the prom.
Mark: And Jaden, what do you think?
Jaden: I would also go to a salon and get acrylics. I'd probably have mine a little longer, and for the color I would say to match the dress or something natural like French Tip.
Shelby: If I wanted to do my nails, something really spectacular like that, maybe add a gem, or a special little design like polka dots or strips, but nothing like a little picture or anything.
Jaden: I agree completely, I would probably just go with solid, personally, but if I was wearing this dress I'd probably do something like a flower or maybe some glitter on a nail.
Mark: Well that's how these two lovely ladies do what they do. How do you do what you do? Tell us what you think, subscribe to our channel, share this video, and we'll see you next time."
